Flexee WORKSHOP: Responding to a flexible working request

£1,350.00

Which practices are interested in this workshop?

Practices that need help applying their statutory ‘Flexible Working Request Policy’ consistently, robustly and fairly.

Who is this workshop for?

Directors, people managers, practice managers, and HR. This workshop is designed for those people in the practice who may be involved in considering and/or responding to formal flexible working requests. It assumes the practice has an appropriate policy in place and this will be incorporated into the session.

Why are practices interested in this workshop?

All employees have the legal right to make a formal flexible working request. This can cover a variety of contractual changes including working hours, patterns, and location. Also, the law on flexible working has been updated in April 2024 and new questions have surfaced that are answered in this workshop.

Employers have a legal – and arguably moral – obligation to give sufficient consideration to such requests and follow a best practice process when dealing with them. This is not only important for employee relations and engagement exercises but can also present business risks if not handled well. Even with a robustly documented policy and procedure in place, many managers in veterinary practices find it hard to respond to these formal requests – often because there is a fear of not being “fair” to other staff, but also because it can be challenging to incorporate a “non-standard” working pattern into an established practice routine and work team.

Key Outcomes:

  1. Common understanding & language
  2. Clarity on legal requirements and best practice approaches
  3. Confidence in how to consider (and accept or reject) a formal request in a practice setting

Explore the two-way implications and obligations associated with a flexible working request and develop practical approaches to dealing with requests in a practice setting using typical case studies. Attendees should leave the session with a deeper understanding of their practice policy and greater confidence in how to apply it to achieve a successful outcome for all parties.

What’s included?

  • In-person, tailored to your practice, interactive workshop delivered by one of Flexee’s consultants, this workshop includes 1-hour pre-call, 2-hour in-person session (up to 12 people group), 1-hour follow up review call and a summary report.
